Tourniquet toe is a rare but terrifying ordeal that all parents should be on the lookout for. This happens when a hair or even a string gets wrapped around a baby's little fingers or toes, and cuts off the blood circulation. If this goes unnoticed, it can result in infection and in rare cases amputation.
The only real way to prevent tourniquet toe syndrome is being vigilant in checking your baby's toes. If your baby has been wearing socks or shoes, take them off and give your babes feet a look over. If your baby's toes are discolored or the hair was so tight it digs into the skin resulting in a wound, take your child to the ER just to insure there is no infection and that the blood is flowing again.
Note: All questions and concerns regarding your child should be directed to your medical professional.
